On Monday I hiked up the old hill-fort at Cefnllys, near Llandrindod Wells for an outdoor painting session. En plein air, or plein air painting borrowed from the French equivalent meaning “open (in full) air” used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Lovely weather – but a bit windy and quite a slog with my paints and canvases! Not as comfy either as painting at home in the studio (with a cup of tea and Ken Bruce on the radio), but you can’t beat it for capturing the light and mood of a landscape.
I’m working on a new series of local landscapes, and will feature the finished work on this website very soon.
